Paint The Town Proud – October 2021
Color World’s Paint the Town Proud Hero: Drinda Pennini
She has traveled as far as Africa for mission work only to realize that
there is plenty of opportunity in her own community. She says being in
the kitchen all the time on Thanksgiving Day is so much fun. She serves
part time with Dripping Springs Hometown Missions but works overtime for
any good she can do locally. She colors her hair unconventionally because
“life is an adventure,” and she wants to have fun. This “she”
is someone everyone wants to know, and who quickly becomes someone you
will love. We’re thrilled to honor Drinda Pennini as this month’s
Color World’s Paint the Town Proud Hero, whose colorful personality
matches her fashion style and spirit.
Drinda worked closely with Home in a Month, the recent major project that Dripping Springs Hometown Missions embarked upon. Coordinating volunteers and working with donors and fulfilling fundraising goals, she made personal phone calls and wrote handwritten thank you notes with a radiant smile on her face and loving warmth from her heart.
“It was so moving to see the community come together and make this project happen,” Drinda said. “There were no politics, no agendas, nothing but neighbors coming together to help neighbors.”
Jeff Hendricks, owner of Color World and local Dripping Springs resident, got to know Drinda firsthand while contributing paint to the Home in a Month project. “From the moment we met I could tell she was genuine and full of compassion for this project and all the residents and businesses that were coming together to make it happen,” said Jeff. “I can’t think of a better person to shine the spotlight on this month than Drinda!”
In addition to her role with Hometown Missions, she is active in her church, United Methodist Dripping Springs, and just finished a book about forgiveness that she looks to publish soon. Married for 43 years to her ‘ride or die’ partner, she hasn’t slowed down a bit since working as a project manager in the corporate world.
Drinda’s favorite quote embodies her giving spirit:
Watch your thoughts, they become words. Watch your words, they become actions. Watch your actions, they become habits. Watch your habits, they become character. Watch your character, for it becomes your legacy.
In addition to the paint can of goodies, which is exactly what a busy volunteer needs to keep going, we are giving Drinda a $25 gift card to Mazama so she can keep up the great work she does for Dripping Springs’ residents.
Thank you for painting our town PROUD, Drinda! We value the legacy you are living each day here in Dripping Springs!
