PAINT THE TOWN PROUD – January 2022
COLOR WORLD’S PAINT THE TOWN PROUD HERO: Lindsey Herring
Join us in congratulating this month’s Paint Our Town Proud Hero -- Lindsey Herring! Mother of two sons, wife to Will, co-business owner of Whitecap Survey Company, caregiver, and Dripping Springs Education Foundation volunteer!
If you had children at Dripping Springs Elementary more than four years ago you may remember Lindsey--the young kindergarten teacher, who moved into the Library, which became the Center for Learning & Innovation, got engaged, got married, changed her name, became pregnant, and had a baby! Wow! Talk about excitement for those little learners!
Since then, she’s taken on a full-time job as mother to two sons, working with her husband Will to operate Whitecap Surveying, is a substitute teacher for the district, and helps care for her aging grandmother.
As if that wasn’t enough, she has been volunteering for the past
three years on the board of
Dripping Springs ISD Education Foundation, a non-profit that gives back to the students and staff of DSISD. She
works tirelessly and with abundant enthusiasm behind the scenes to keep
us all connected with what’s happening at the Ed Foundation—all
the while with a huge smile on her face and continued passion for the
education of our children.
One of her primary volunteer roles is coordinating and monitoring DSEF’s social media accounts where she connects with businesses and community leaders in the many ways they give of their time, talents and resources to DSISD.
“I’ve learned about so many local businesses and interacted with so many different people on behalf of DSEF,” Lindsey said. “I had no idea there were so many different businesses in the area and I’ve really enjoyed learning about each them.”
Modest and humble, Lindsey downplays her role, but all who work with her talk of her talents and applaud her contributions.
“I went from teaching in the classroom and applying for DSEF innovation grants to being on the other side. I now get to read the grant requests from educators and students and be a part of allocating those grants!” she said. “I see so many grant proposals for so many amazing things that are happening and being developed. It’s very rewarding.”
Today we say THANK YOU LINDSEY with a Color World paint can of goodies and gift card to Route 12 Filling Station. Lindsey Herring is painting our town proud in her gifts to our school system, and to all the children she has helped shape with her positive attitude, encouraging spirit and love for learning.
